As if the Age of Aquarius wasn’t already dead, this surely puts a stake through its heart: Art Garfunkel has been busted for marijuana — in Woodstock, N.Y.
The tall half of the Simon & Garfunkel duo was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after a state trooper stopped his four-door Buick on Sunday after the singer, 63, failed to stop at a stop sign in the notoriously offbeat village nestled in the Catskills.
The trooper, according to a report obtained by The Daily Freeman in nearby Kingston, N.Y., approached the car and “detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. … The driver and only occupant of the vehicle identified himself with New York driver’s license as Arthur Garfunkel. Subsequent search of the vehicle revealed one marijuana cigarette located in the ashtray.”
Garfunkel, who lives in Manhattan, was issued an appearance ticket and is due back in Woodstock Town Court on Sept. 22.
He previously faced mairjuana charges just last year in another nearby village, Hurley, N.Y.
