Paul Chaffee has been named publisher of The Saginaw (Mich.) News. He will continue to serve as editor. He replaces H. Renee Hampton, who was appointed director of projects for the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Booth Newspapers, which owns the News.

Chaffee, 58, joined the paper in 1988 as metropolitan editor after 12 years at The Grand Rapids Press. “The Saginaw News cannot prosper unless the mid-Michigan area thrives,” Chaffee told his paper. “So, as was the case from 1859 until this moment, the paper will do everything in its substantial power to contribute to moving our region — city, suburbs, ex-urbs, and rural areas — forward.”
