PAULINE’S PICKS: Chicagoans Make Videos Protesting The Re-Naming Of Wrigley Field

By: Pauline Millard

Chicagoans are very sensitive about the idea of Sam Zell trying to sell the rights to rename Wrigley Field. They’re so passionate about it that when the Chicago Sun-Times invited readers to write a song and make a video about possible name changes, they jumped at the chance.

Most of the videos are so bad they’re funny, but some offer intriguing artistic interpretations. One guy filmed his dog cleaning himself while he sang an altered version of “Take Me Out To The Ballgame.” Others flexed their video special effects skills. More than one used a plastic doll as a prop. One guy managed to rhyme “billionaire” with “hair,” as in Zell’s lack of it.
