The Orange County (Calif.) Register is bringing back “Pearls Before Swine” and “Get Fuzzy” after hundreds of readers protested the dropping of those two United Media comics.
“Pearls” is by Stephan Pastis and “Fuzzy” is by Darby Conley.
The two comics had received a number of negative comments when the Register asked readers for their opinions late last year. But when the strips were dropped, the number of readers saying they wanted them back was far greater than the previous number of negative comments.
Part of the reason might have been that a portion of last year’s respondents were older readers who offered their comic opinions via postal mail. Many “Pearls” and “Fuzzy” fans are younger readers who have made the two features among the most successful comics launched during the past 10 years.
The reinstatement of the two comics was mentioned today on Alan Gardner’s Daily Cartoonist blog, which can be seen here.
