The Peruvian photographer held for a week by Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip arrived back home in Lima early Wednesday.
Jaime Razuri, 50, who works with the French news agency Agence France-Presse, was abducted at gunpoint on Jan. 1 in Gaza City following a series of other abductions of foreign journalists.
His kidnappers released him unharmed on Jan. 7. Razuri drove straight from the airport to his family’s residence in the La Punta district of Callao, on the outskirts of the capital, accompanied by his mother Delia de Razuri.
There he was welcomed by dozens of journalists, friends, family, and neighbors.
Razuri gave no immediate details of his abduction to reporters gathered outside his home. But he said he would talk about the experience in a news conference later.
