“This Modern World” editorial cartoonist Tom Tomorrow has collected more than 2,050 signatures so far in an unusual online petition drive to get his work back in the print edition of The Village Voice.
The self-syndicated Tomorrow, whose cartoons still run in the New York City weekly’s online edition, wrote on his site: “In other instances when something like this has happened, I?ve suggested that readers send an e-mail to the editor, but the problem with that approach is that it can irritate the editor and end up hurting more than helping. So I?ve decided to try something new — I?ve posted a petition respectfully requesting that the editors reconsider this decision. … When I get a decent number of signatures, I?ll pass it along.”
The petition drive began last Thursday.
