Just in time for the 2010 elections, PolitiFact.com, the Pulitzer Prize-winning fact-checking Web site of the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times, has launched PolitiFact Ohio in a partnership with The Plain Dealer in Cleveland.
The site takes the same journalistic approach and boasts the same design as the original PolitiFact. It is integrated with the national site and uses PolitiFact’s distinctive “Truth-O-Meter” to rate the accuracy of statements by public officials.
“Ohio is an important state in national politics and it has an interesting cast of political characters,” PolitiFact Editor Bill Adair said in a statement. “It’s a great state for the Truth-O-Meter.”
Veteran Plain Dealer editor Bob Higgs is leading the PolitiFact Ohio team, which includes editor Jane Kahoun and reporters Steve Koff, Sabrina Eaton, Reginald Fields, Joe Guillen, Aaron Marshall, Mark Naymik and Tom Feran.
The Ohio partnership is the fifth in a national network of affiliate sites. The others are PolitiFact Rhode Island, PolitiFact Georgia, PolitiFact Texas, and PolitiFact Florida, which launched earlier this year.
