PR Newswire of New York will unveil a redesigned Web site for journalists on Monday.
The new site integrates PR Newswire’s Press Room site and NEWSdesk, which the company acquired in 1998. Eventually, the company’s ProfNet expert directory will also be incorporated into the new site. For now, the site links to a separate ProfNet Web site.
The site’s new personalization features allow reporters to have relevant news releases delivered via e-mail on a schedule of their choosing. Reporters establish profiles that will draw only those releases from the fields and industries that they cover. This information may be received by e-mail or retrieved from www.prnewswire.com.
An archive search going back to 1999 has been added to the site, in addition to a “hot topics” section — lists of the press releases about the latest news stories of the day.
PR Newswire officials say that before the sites were combined, Press Room site had 33,000 registered journalists, while NEWSdesk had 15,000. The NEWSdesk site has primarily been used by reporters in the U.K.
