Pressman for 55 Years Dies in Farm Accident

The Daily Times, Maryville, Tenn., reported the death of longtime pressman and farmer Jack Parker. The 78-year-old Daily Times retiree died from injuries sustained in an accident on his farm.

Parker’s wife, Carolyn, told the paper that a tractor and spreader had knocked him down and run him over in late May.

After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean war, Parker worked in the Daily Times pressroom for 55 years, retiring in 1997.

The Parkers were married for almost 52 years after meeting at the newspaper, where Carolyn worked for 32 years in the circulation department. They have four children, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
