Jonathan Pearl, a pressroom supervisor at The Sun Chronicle, Attleboro, Mass., was taken into custody Monday night by city police after he allegedly brought a rifle to the paper’s South Main Street building and tried to hide it there, the paper reported Tuesday.

Reportedly upset after a family dispute, Pearl visited the paper and allegedly hid an unloaded .22 caliber rifle in the press area. His wife notified police, telling them that she and her husband had an argument and that he was in an agitated state.

When Pearl exited the newspaper about 7 p.m., police armed with automatic weapons ordered him to the ground at gunpoint and took him into custody without incident.

After being arrested, Pearl helped police locate the hidden weapon, the Sun Chronicle reported. He was charged with improper storage of a firearm and disturbing the peace.
