Presstek Inc., based in Hudson, N.H., has announced controlled availability of its Aurora chemistry-free thermal plates, which can be used with Kodak/Creo Trendsetter and Screen PlateRite thermal computer-to-plate systems.
The chemistry-free thermal plates come in thicknesses of .008″ and .012″ (.20 and .30 mm) and sizes up 48″ x 54″, image at 1-99% for 200 lpi screening (as well as FM screening), and are rated for run lengths up to 50,000.
Imaged Aurora plates require only a water wash before mounting. No chemical processing, baking, or gumming is needed.
The announcement follows completion of beta testing at various user sites, in different applications and plate sizes. Presstek said it initially will market Aurora plates in the United States directly to larger users.
