The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN/IFRA) is conducting a study tour to explore the latest trends in printing. The tour takes place Sept. 27-Oct. 2, shortly before the annual Ifra exposition and conference, in Hamburg, Germany.
The tour, in Germany and Austria, will look at how traditional printers overcame challenges, sustained and improved quality, and achieved success through automation and standardization.
Participants will have opportunities to see some of the latest innovations installed and running, while meeting professionals who have used creativity and technology to make better use of newspaper presses. The tour also is expected to visit a pressmaker and a materials-testing laboratory.
Highlights of the tour, visiting five printing plants and two big manufacturers, will be new products created on newspaper presses, workflow integration, compact press, sorting plate tower, soft-proofing, materials testing and magazine printing.
