(Adweek) The Providence Journal Co. said it has named Paul Farrell as senior vice president of advertising. Farrell’s responsibilities will include strategic planning and new-product development.
Farrell is a former Boston Globe national and retail advertising director.
“We are very pleased to have Paul joining us in this essential position,” said Mark Ryan, executive vice president and general manager at the Providence (R.I.) Journal. “Paul’s extensive experience in all the elements of advertising, including new-revenue generation, strategic planning and cross-platform selling, will make a significant impact on our very successful department.”
Besides Farrell’s recent position at the Globe, he has worked as senior vice president of advertising for Community Newspapers and as vice president of sales and marketing for the Saint Paul (Minn.) Pioneer Press.
