Taking a step toward a fully convergent newsroom, Argentine daily Rio Negro has installed the Milenium Cross Media solutions from Protec S.A., headquartered in Madrid with offices in Miami and Santiago, Chile. Implementation aims to provide the paper with a totally integrated editorial model.
Rio Negro aims to coordinate workflows between its print and electronic editions, as well as create more effective synergies between the two media. According to Protec, the idea is that “the integration between the two newsrooms helps to optimize both human and technological resources with a view to improving the global management and the control of all editorial products.”
The project supports 68 seats, divided among newsroom, production, and Web. The implementation also ensures automatic generation and placement of ads.
Rio Negro also will manage its editorial content through the archive module, for the newspaper and its supplements, allowing all editorial assets to be preserved and be reused.
The 96-year-old paper founded in the city of General Roca, Rio Negro province, has the biggest circulation if newspapers in Patagonia. Launched 11 years ago, its Web site is visited by more than 30,000 readers per day.
