Belo Corp. newspapers The Providence (R.I.) Journal and The Press-Enterprise in Riverside, Calif., have picked AdStar Inc.’s Ad Sales solution for their print and online classified advertising transactions, AdStar said Monday.
AdStar allows advertisers to create, schedule and pay for classified ads through a newspaper’s Web site. The technology allows advertisers to create an ad for print and a different version for the Web. Ads can be scheduled individually and enhanced with options such as photos, preferential listings and Web identifiers.
AdStar is already used by Belo’s flagship, The Dallas Morning News.
“Newspapers across the country are continuing to recognize the growth in online revenues throughout the publishing industry, and advertisers are definitely interested in alternative solutions for ad placement in print, online or both formats,” AdStar President and CEO Leslie Bernhard said in a prepared statement.
The Providence Journal (www.projo.com) and www.pe.com. The has a daily circulation of about 153,000. The Press-Enterprise, www.pe.com, has a circulation about 218,000.
AdStar’s ad transaction infrastructure is used by CareerBuilder and about 40 dailies.
