(AP) A psychiatrist is suing the Orlando Sentinel over its stories on overdose deaths. Eleven people died.

Doctor Michael Gutman says the stories falsely linked the deaths to medication he prescribed. He says the stories published in November falsely claim he billed Medicaid through his prescriptions, and those prescriptions killed people.

In the stories, Gutman is quoted as saying he did nothing wrong.

Gutman sued yesterday in Orange County. He also is suing the Orlando Sentinel’s parent company and two reporters.

Gutman is a specialist in pain management. He says his reputation was damaged enough that he has not been hired as an expert witness in two years.

The Sentinel says it will aggressively defend itself against the lawsuit.
