Publicitas Targets Newspapers With E-mail

Media sales firm Publicitas North America plans a flash e-mail campaign this year as part of an effort to increase its $100 million in annual newspaper advertising billings by 20% to 30% this year, according to its newly named CEO, Joe Kelly.

The campaign, launching this month, is aimed at publishers and senior sales executives and carries the message that Publicitas can increase their sales and reduce their cost of selling.

Kelly, who predicts newspaper ad spending will start to emerge from the recession around mid-year, said Publicitas is targeting market-leading papers, such as its existing clients, which include The New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, and The Globe and Mail in Toronto.
