In an Aug. 22 blog posting at The Wall Street Journal‘s, Peter Kafka reported that News Corp. is hiring Viacom digital distribution chief Greg Clayman to run the business side of the publisher’s in-the-works national daily for mobile digital devices.

Kafka includes a Viacom memo announcing Clayman’s departure; word of the News Corp. appointment was attributed several unnamed sources.

The digital-only subscription daily news app is expoected to rely on its own newsroom and other News Corp. resources such as The Wall Street Journal and New York Post, whose executive editor, Jesse Angelo, recently was tapped as the new venture’s editor.
