Jill Melton has been named editor of Relish, the food magazine to be distributed in newspapers next year, the Publishing Group of America will announce on Tuesday.
Melton previously worked at Cooking Light magazine for 15 years, and has also provided editorial and food program development for Better Homes and Gardens, Woman’s World, and Your Diet, a publication of Time Inc.’s People.
Publishing Group of America is the Franklin, Tenn.-based magazine publisher of American Profile, now distributed in 1,200 papers with a circulation of 7 million, the company says. According to its statement, the company expects to distribute 6 million copies of Relish after it debuts early next year.
Melton is one of the few food editors with a formal education in nutrition and experience as a chef, the publisher points out.

Publishing Group of America publishes a series of cookbooks (?Hometown Recipes?) and operates Hometown Content, a syndicated news service, and Hometown Promotions, an integrated marketing service.
