Publishing Group of America Names Editor of New Food Supplement

Jill Melton has been named editor of Relish, the food magazine to be distributed in newspapers next year, the Publishing Group of America will announce on Tuesday.

Melton previously worked at Cooking Light magazine for 15 years, and has also provided editorial and food program development for Better Homes and Gardens, Woman’s World, and Your Diet, a publication of Time Inc.’s People.

Publishing Group of America is the Franklin, Tenn.-based magazine publisher of American Profile, now distributed in 1,200 papers with a circulation of 7 million, the company says. According to its statement, the company expects to distribute 6 million copies of Relish after it debuts early next year.

Melton is one of the few food editors with a formal education in nutrition and experience as a chef, the publisher points out.

?There’s a void in food editorial today, and Jill is the perfect person to fill it,? said Charlie Cox, editor in chief of Publishing Group of America, in a release. ?Just as American Profile highlights the cultural fabric of hometowns and acts as a kind of unifier, Relish can make a difference by celebrating food American-style. Jill’s unique credentials and voice are a testament to the purpose and sophistication of the launch.?

Publishing Group of America publishes a series of cookbooks (?Hometown Recipes?) and operates Hometown Content, a syndicated news service, and Hometown Promotions, an integrated marketing service.
