Pulitzer Inc. today appointed Terrie Robbins to general manager of STLtoday.com. She has served as vice president/director of marketing for the Pulitzer flagship St. Louis Post-Dispatch since 1997.
Robbins’ appointment follows the departure of Colette Hogan, who resigned as president of STLtoday.com in January. As part of a restructuring of the Post-Dispatch‘s online operations, the Web site will no longer have its own president. Robbins will be the highest-ranking person at STLtoday.com and will report to Terry Egger, Pulitzer vice president and Post-Dispatch president and publisher.
“[Robbin’s] knowledge and energy will help us explore new ways to better serve our online readers and advertisers and continue to strengthen the overall Pulitzer franchise in St. Louis,” Egger said in a statement.
In January, STLtoday.com laid off 15 staffers in an effort to stem losses. At that time, Egger said Pulitzer would likely reintegrate the online unit more closely with the newspaper. But he also said Pulitzer remains committed to the local portal strategy and the STLtoday.com brand.
Robbins has 25 years of experience in the media industry, including a stint as innovations director at the Star Tribune in Minneapolis. Under her leadership, the Post-Dispatch won several advertising and marketing awards. Robbins is a past president of the Newspaper Association of America’s Marketing Federation.
