‘Raising Hector’ Strip Stars Multigenerational Latino Family

“Raising Hector,” Peter Ramirez’s comic about a Latino family, is being syndicated by Tribune Media Services.

The strip, which Ramirez created in 1996, was formerly self-syndicated.

“Raising Hector” stars an ex-cop who’s now “Mr. Mom” at home with kids, parents, and a dog while his wife works in a paying job.

The comic is partly autobiographical. Ramirez is a former New York City police officer who rose to the narcotics division. After being injured in the line of duty, Ramirez became a stay-at-home dad.

One of six kids raised by a single mother in New York City, Ramirez’s childhood escape was reading comic books and newspaper comics. He was the first person in his family to graduate from college.

“Raising Hector” is also being made available in Spanish.
