Raleigh ‘News & Observer’ Promotes Two Editors

A pair of editors at The News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C., have been promoted to head two departments.

Thad Ogburn has been named metro editor. Ogburn, who joined the newspaper in 1990 as a copy editor, most recently served as features editor. He has also been news editor and deputy metro editor.

In his new role, Ogburn will oversee the N&O?s news staffs in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill.

Debra Boyette succeeds Ogburn as features editor. Boyette has worked in the features department for the past eight years, and oversaw the Home & Garden section. She spent 15 years at the Kansas City Star before joining the N&O in 1997.
