Aiding its transition to computer-to-plate output, The Repository in Canton, Ohio, purchased NewsXtreme, Xtreme Inking, and various other applications from Presteligence, in North Canton.

The longstanding Presteligence GUSS user, a New York Times print site, also has used Presteligence Blackmagic for color calibrated proofing for several years.

The Repository will utilize all mainstream functions of NewsXtreme, including the ability to import its product plan from Managing Editor Inc.’s ALS. The paper plans to use NewsXtreme’s commercial soft-proofing feature, which allows customers to access page proofs outside the paper’s firewall. Xtreme Inking will automatically calculate ink values for the Goss press control system, saving on start up time and the costs of ink and paper.

The software is to be installed in May, before the 65,180-circulation (80,058 Sunday) Gatehouse Media daily gets its two two Kodak Trendsetter thermal platesetters.

A previous version of this story misreported The Repository’s circulation numbers.
