Ali Zoibi, the No. 2 executive at The Indianapolis Star, has been appointed president and publisher of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.
Gannett Co., which owns both newspapers, said Monday that Zoibi will succeed Michael Kane, who was appointed president and publisher of The Star two weeks ago.
Zoibi joined The Star in 2000 and was promoted to senior vice president and general manager in 2005.
Gannett Co. is the nation’s largest newspaper publisher. It owns 85 U.S. dailies with a combined circulation of almost 7 million.
