Family-owned Rust Communications, headquartered in Cape Girardeau, Mo., has promoted three group publishers to the new positions of regional vice presidents, reporting to co-presidents Rex Rust and Jon K. Rust.
From the Greene County (Ind.) Daily World, Randy List is now also responsible for central Tennessee and Iowa.
With more than 37 years’ experience in the newspaper business – including papers in South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, and California — List has been publisher/part owner of Indiana’s Brazil Times, Greene County Daily World/The Shopper, and Greencastle Banner Graphic.
Arkansas-based Ron Kemp added responsibility for papers in southwest and central Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Idaho. Kemp, has been publisher of Arkansas’ Clay County Democrat, in Rector, Piggott Times, Manilla Town Crier and Trumann Democrat-Tribune. Already a regional manager, Kemp continues to oversee Salem-based Areawide Media, and Carroll County Newspapers, in Berryville.
Bud Hunt, publisher of the Daily Dunklin Democrat and other southeast Missouri papers, now also oversees other papers there and in western Tennessee.
“This is a management transition, which we developed over the past year, but sadly implemented earlier than planned,” Rust Communications co-president Rex Rust said in the Sept. 1 announcement.
Former chief operating officer Wally Lage died in August from a drowning accident in Maine.
