‘Salem (Mass.) News’ Names New Editor

David Olson has been named editor of The Salem (Mass.) News. He most recently was editor of The Gloucester Daily Times.

Olson, 39, formerly served the Salem News as night editor and city editor. His journalism career began at the Gloucester Daily Times in 1992 as a University of New Hampshire intern, and he has worked as a reporter and editor in Gloucester and at the Times-Herald Record of Middletown, N.Y.

Olson also has worked as the Statehouse bureau chief for the Salem News, the Gloucester Daily Times, and the Daily News of Newburyport, Mass.

He replaces David Joyner, who left to become senior managing editor of The Eagle-Tribune in North Andover, Mass. Both newspapers are owned by The Eagle-Tribune Publishing Co.
