The Saline Courier, Benton, Ark., launched a free weekly magazine Sept. 2. The Saline Record includes news, sports and special-interest topics.
A pressrun of 14,000 copies was to be distributed throughout Saline County, according to KATV, in Little Rock.
Described as “a newspaper-type publication in a tabloid format with a magazine-style and feel,” the Record appeared in time for Friday’s annual Salt Bowl football match-up of Benton and Bryant, the television station’s Website reported.
The first issue was to contain the Courier‘s 32-page preview of the game.
Saline Record Editor Kristal Kuykendall is quoted saying, “We are thrilled to be able to once again expand our coverage of this growing county and offer a new way for Saline County residents to stay on top of the news and learn more about their communities.”
Last month, Terri Leifeste was appointed publisher of the Saline Courier, which had just changed its name back from The Benton Courier. Leifeste remains a vice president of parent company Horizon Publications, where she has worked for 20 years.
