Sergio Salinas has been appointed executive vice president and general manager of the San Antonio (Texas) Express News. He has served as senior vice president of sales and marketing since 2004.
Salinas began his newspaper career at The Dallas Times Herald, where he held several circulation-management positions. He went on to work in such markets as Philadelphia, El Paso, San Francisco, Denver, and San Antonio at The Philadelphia Bulletin, USA Today, and The San Antonio Light.
He then joined the Dallas Morning News as advertising director, and later became senior vice president of sales and marketing. In 2002 Salinas joined The Oklahoman, where he led its sales and marketing strategies before returning to San Antonio. He joined the Express-News in September 2003.
