Sunday Edition Gets Redesign, Promotional Campaign

The San Francisco Chronicle’s redesign of its Sunday
edition appears this weekend.

The Chronicle, owned by the Hearst Corp., will add new
sections such as “Living” and “Insight,” feature a redesigned
front page, and place the comics on the inside. The Saturday
edition will publish the “Weekend Home & Garden” and “Saturday
Auto” sections.

The new edition will get a $3 million advertising and marketing
campaign, including local television, radio, and print
advertising. The ads, to be launched Wednesday, will carry the
campaign’s theme: “Sunday’s will never be the same.”

Sunday Chronicle Editor Kenn Altine said in a press
release, “Our goal is to make an emotional connection to our
readers and to help them look at issues from new, different
perspectives.”
