Former COO Joins Site’s Advisory Board
Mark Sauter, COO and executive vice president of content and
programming at APBnews.com, resigned last week.
Sauter is headed to an unnamed new-media company that handles
content, e-commerce, and education, according a memo that he
wrote to staff members.
Sauter has agreed to join the APB advisory board at the request
of the new APBnews.com owner, SafetyTips.com’s CEO Yovette Mumford.
In his parting letter to APBnews staff, Sauter said, ‘Amazingly,
the new PC Data reports shows that in August – with a staff of some
19 people, APB was the 20th largest news site, with a 1% reach and
826,000 uniques. Together, we built a remarkable brand, did great
work and informed and served a huge number of users. We almost made
Sauter worked at APBnews.com for two years, bringing together an
editorial team that quickly garnered kudos in the industry.
Hoag Levins, the site’s executive editor that Sauter recruited from
E&P, said in his own memo to staff, ‘Now, two years later, as we
reflect on the latest turn in our company’s tumultuous history and
on Sauter’s resignation, it’s worth noting how resolutely he kept
his promise. Along with everything else he was at APBnews.com,
Sauter was the guardian angel of our newsroom.’
