Schork Prizes Offered For Foreign News

By: Ana Mantica

The Kurt Schork Awards in International Journalism, underwritten by Reuters and the Kurt Schork Memorial Fund, will award two $10,000 prizes for print journalism, the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism announced last week.

The awards, created to honor Kurt Schork, the American free-lance journalist killed while on assignment for Reuters in Sierra Leone two years ago, will be given to one free-lance journalist covering foreign news and one local reporter in a developing country or nation in transition.

Applications are available at http://www.jrn.columbia.edu/prizes/schork.
