The E.W. Scripps Co. will use Caspio’s platform service to generate local community databases and applications for its online news sites, including Denver’s Rocky Mountain News, The Commercial Appeal, Memphis, the Knoxville (Tenn.) News Sentinel and the Ventura County (Calif.) Star.

Journalists at Scripps will use Bridge, Caspio’s platform-as-a-service, to give online readers access to public records and other community databases. With Caspio Bridge, Scripps sites will be able to deploy scalable online database applications (for such things as crime statistics, nursinghome inspections and school test scores) without having to do any on-site programming or software installations, according to Caspio.
