SFGate.com, the Web site of the San Francisco Chronicle and KRON-TV, now accepts audio clips from local bands using Klipmart Corp.’s audio/video system. The technology allows consumers to upload multimedia clips to Web sites. Editors then decide how to use those files.
“The Bay Area is a hotbed for new bands and we feel we now have a tool that allows us to expose those bands to a wider audience,” said Robert S. Cauthorn, vice president for digital media at the Chronicle. The feature is available at http://www.sfgate.com/music/.
New York-based Klipmart says over 600 Web sites are using its technology, including the sites of the Albany, N.Y. Times Union, The Modesto (Calif.) Bee, and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
