(AP) A newspaper delivery man died who was gunned down on his Fort Pierce route died today.
Daniel DeStefano was shot early yesterday while delivering The Tribune of Fort Pierce. Police say the 32-year-old died this morning at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute.
Police say DeStefano was delivering newspapers to businesses on his route when he was approached by a man wearing a stocking cap over his face who demanded money.
Police say both men fired shots and DeStefano was hit at least twice. DeStefano has a concealed weapons permit, but he said he didn’t know whether he hit the assailant.
The suspect remains at large. Destefano had worked as an independent contractor delivering newspapers for Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers since November.
