An exhibit called “Cartoon Tunes: Capturing Music in Comics” will run May 9 through Oct. 15 at the Cartoon Art Museum of San Francisco.

Many of the exhibited artists are alternative cartoonists, and some are syndicated. Co-curating the show are Keith Knight, creator of the syndicated “K Chronicles” and “(th)ink” comics; and Marc Weidenbaum, editorial director of the “Shonen Jump” manga-comics magazine.

Among the musical artists featured in the cartoons are Bob Dylan, Philip Glass, Led Zeppelin, Jenny Lind, Prince, Run-DMC, and They Might Be Giants.
