Slim Said to Acquire 3.23% Stake in Spain’s Biggest Media Company Prisa

Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim acquired a minority stake in Promotora de Informaciones SA (PRS) after shares of Spain’s largest media company have slumped by about 50 percent this year.

Slim bought a 3.2 percent holding in Prisa through his investment arm Inmobiliaria Carso SA, according to a regulatory filing today. Prisa jumped as much as 16 percent and was up 11 percent as of 4:05 p.m. in Madrid, valuing the company at 723 million euros ($978 million).
