The Washington Post’s Web site won 7 of 14 top honors awarded for online design by the Society for News Design for the last quarter of 2006.

In the group’s monthly awards for October, November, and December, the Post was honored for its breaking news design, for coverage of the death of Saddam Hussein, and for its non-breaking news design for its coverage of the midterm elections. Other newspaper sites receiving awards included the News & Record in Greensboro, N.C., the Ottawa Citizen, The Press-Enterprise in Riverside, Calif., and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale.
