Southern Lithoplate today broke ground for its Litho Center. The new manufacturing center adjacent to the company’s Wake Forest, N.C., campus is expected to be operation next spring.
The project’s first phase will include an incremental 75 million square feet of capacity for newspaper and commercial printers’ needs for litho plates for digital computer-to-plate output, according to Southern Lithoplate President and Chief Operating Officer Clark A. Casson. When the center is complete, Southern Litho will have approximately 225 million square feet of serviceable capacity in Wake Forest.
“We already have nearly 100% of our new manufacturing line on site. All we have to do now is complete the facility itself,” Casson said in a statement, adding that the addition also will boost his company’s analog litho plate capacity.
