“Brewster Rockit: Space Guy!” is holding a “Draw the Monster” contest that kicks off this Sunday in the Tribune Media Services (TMS) strip.

The reader contest will possibly run for three weeks. “Brewster” creator Tim Rickard will then choose a winner, whose name and art will be worked into a Sunday comic this February or March.

“Brewster” is a space-parody strip that entered syndication this summer. Its title character is a captain unprepared to lead as he and his crew orbit the stars aboard the “R.U. Sirius” getting into various adventures.

Rickard is an award-winning cartoonist, illustrator, and graphic artist for the Greensboro, N.C., News & Record. He has designed/illustrated more than three dozen book covers and done humorous illustrations for publications including Better Homes and Gardens and The Washington Post.

TMS said “Brewster” has about 25 clients, including The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Chicago Tribune, the Dayton (Ohio) Daily News, the Detroit Free Press, the Houston Chronicle, the Los Angeles Times, The Seattle Times, and The Times-Picayune of New Orleans.
