Matt Davies has posted a retrospective of some of his editorial cartoons about New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who just resigned over his ties to a prostitution ring.
Davies — of The Journal News of White Plains, N.Y., and Tribune Media Services — said in his blog post that readers of his Spitzer cartoons will “notice my skepticism was initially aimed at his ability to handle Albany. Who’d have thought he would have so much trouble handling himself?”
The 2004 Pulitzer Prize winner also wrote: “A majority of New Yorkers had such high hopes for their new governor. They really believed he had the intellect, stamina, charisma, and tenacity to turn a desperately mismanaged and entrenched New York State around.”
