GMA, of Allentown, Pa., recently sold an 8:2 SLS2000 high-speed inserter to The St. Joseph (Mo.) News-Press, which has just upgraded software on the SLS2000 12:2 inserter it installed in 1999 and uses in daily and weekend production.
The News-Press also uses GMA’s PrintRoll buffering and storage system.
The additional inserter was ordered to increase capacity at the News-Press & Gazette Group’s regional printing facility in St. Joseph so that it can handle Kansas City market publications acquired in the last 18 months.
“The GMA model we picked will allow us minimal training expense since our operators already know the machine,” News-Press Operations Director John McCarthy said in a statement. “We will be able to utilize the same spare parts inventory for both machines, and our maintenance people will be able to efficiently make any repairs or preventive maintenance.”
