A year after Suburban Journals of Greater St. Louis ended printing at the Mississippi Valley Offset plant in St. Louis, parent company Lee Enterprises is shutting down the free weeklies’ plant in Berkeley, Mo.

In a change that will eliminate 42 jobs, printing will move early next month to Lee’s Pulitzer Publishing Center, in Maryland Heights, which prints the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, according to a report Wednesday in the North County Journal. The P-D’s plant offers the Journals greater color capacity.

The Journals’ 33 editions reach almost 700,000 households on Wednesday and approximately 400,000 on Sunday. Another 62,000 homes in St. Charles County receive a Friday edition.
