Mi-Ai Parrish has been named assistant managing editor for features at the Star Tribune in Minneapolis.
Parrish most recently served the Star Tribune as assistant managing editor/Sunday; she has been with the paper since 2002. Before that she worked for the San Francisco Chronicle, where she was deputy managing editor for arts and features.
In addition, Parrish has served as the deputy managing editor for features and Sunday editor at the Arizona Republic; arts and entertainment editor, travel editor, and Sunday news editor at the Chicago Sun-Times, and as an assistant business editor at the Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk.
“Parrish will take over leadership of the features section at a pivotal time,” Editor Anders Gyllenhaal said in a statement. “In the past seven years, features has expanded its sections into some of the strongest in the country. Taste, Home & Garden, Travel, Freetime, and our arts and entertainment coverage are highlights of the paper and routinely bring home national awards. The challenge for the features department will be to build on the strengths of these sections.”
