Countries like France are no strangers to the problem, with media experts saying it has been growing exponentially since the 2015 Paris terrorist attacks. But, with national elections set for Germany and France, Spain, Italy, Austria and The Netherlands, next year, the spread of false or misleading information via websites and social media is escalating, and the tension is palpable.

    The internet exposes fascists doing business as usual, which they have to counter in order to control the status quo. This blizzard of lies is propaganda 10. It is best suited for the purpose of making sure the poor and powerless never see how the veil separating them form the rich and powerful is opaque to them and transparent to the powerful. Journalism was only viable as a cover for managing the news when it was expensive and difficult to produce. After these growing pains, the internet will eventually be the greatest democratizing force in history
