Sun Times Media Group Names New VP of Adversiting and Marketing

The Sun Times Media Group has named Barbara Swanson its new vice president for advertising and marketing. She will be responsible for directing advertising and marketing strategy for the company?s newspapers and Web sites.

Swanson is a veteran in Chicago newspaper advertising, including 27 years at the Chicago Tribune. During her tenure she held many sales management roles including director, retail management accounts, director of recruitment advertising, and business development manager. She was also vice president of sales for the 50 percent Tribune-owned public records and real estate advertising company REIC.

Her most recent position at the paper was vice president of classified advertising. She was in charge of all print, online, and niche publications as well as the classified call center.

She left the Tribune in late 2006 to work for her family?s Phoenix-based collections and receivables management firm, A.R. Systems. Swanson opened an office suburban Chicago. She will begin her new role at the Sun Times Media Group on March 10.
