Stephen Hastings, the vice president of circulation who was fired from the Chicago Sun-Times, has been hired by The New York Sun as vice president and publisher.
According to the New York Post, Seth Lipsky, president and editor of the The Sun, said, “I think Hastings is an absolutely terrific guy. I hired him and I think he’ll do a terrific job.”
Hastings left the Sun-Times amid speculation that he was involved with the circulation scandal announced by the paper in mid-June. He will replace Sun COO Bill Kummel, who will leave the paper in August.
The Post also reports that the Sun snagged a second round of financing, close to $30 million.
