Nearly three-quarters of media buyers and planners dealing with the newspaper industry saw advertising demand either increase or stay the same at the close of 2003, according to a MediaPost survey.

Overall, demand in all major media jumped in December, with 55% of respondents saying advertising demand increased compared to one year ago. It was the first time in 2003 that a majority of the industry felt that way.

In the newspaper sector, 24% of respondents said ad demand increased during December. Just under 50% said demand remained constant, while 27% reported a decrease.
