Christopher Jonta Artis, 19, pleaded not guilty Aug. 13 to seven felony charges in connection with the July 2008 murder of John Price Jr., 50, a carrier for The Virginian-Pilot, Norfolk. Artis faces the death penalty.

A jury trial is scheduled to begin next June.

Price was killed in Suffolk at about 4 AM while making deliveries. The Suffolk (Va.) News-Herald reported that police responding to calls of gunshots discovered Price lying in the road, his van idling nearby with the driver-side door open.

Neighbors said Price was still holding a copy of the Virginian-Pilot.
