‘TallahasseeDemocrat’ Titan G60 among K&M Inserter Sales

K&M Newspaper Service, Monroe, N.Y., will provide the Tallahassee Democrat with a servo-driven, 22-hopper Titan G60 inserter with a gripper delivery conveyor, Miracom controls and dual-format pockets. The project also includes K-Track press conveyor, bundle-distribution conveying system and HL2000 mini hopper loaders.

It is the ninth Titan G60 since its introduction two years ago.

Other recent inserting system orders were placed by Charleston (W.Va.) Newspapers (1472P with dual-format pockets, gripper conveyor and Miracom controls), The Holland (Mich.) Sentinel (G3R, 22-head servo-driven inserter with dual-format pockets, double out, and RDDS stackers), and New Braunfels (Texas) Herald-Zeitung (1472P inserter).

K&M rebuilt and/or relocated inserters for the Courier Post, Cherry Hill, N.J.; Citrus County Chronicle, Crystal River, Fla.; The News-Times, Danbury, Conn.; The Times, Shreveport, La.; Journal Inquirer, Manchester, Conn.; Santa Maria (Calif.) Times; and Meriden (Conn.) Record.

K-Trak press conveyor, floor conveyor and bundle-distribution systems were sold to The Columbus (Ga.) Ledger Enquirer; The Holland (Mich.) Sentinel; The Daily Commercial, Leesburg, Fla.; New Braunfels (Texas) Herald-Zeitung; The Times, Shreveport, La.; The Herald-Palladium, St. Joseph, Mich.; Salisbury (Md.) Daily Times; Meriden (Conn.) Record; Chronicle-Tribune, Marion, Ind.; and The Daily News, McKeesport, Pa.

Inserter control upgrades and/or TMC inkjet labeling went into the Courier Post, Cherry Hill, N.J., (replacing ICON controls with Mirasert controls, Burt interface and downstream integration); Charleston (W.Va.) Newspapers (replacing ICON controls on 1472 and 2299 Inserters); The Galveston (Texas) County Daily News; The Herald Mail Co., Hagerstown, Md. (replacing ICON with Mirasert on a 2299); Rapid City (S.D.) Journal; The Times, Shreveport, La. (replacing GE Controls with Mirasert on a 2299); The Valley News, West Lebanon, N.H.; The Butler (Pa.) Eagle; The Democrat and Chronicle, Rochester, N.Y. (replacing ICON on anNP630 with Mirasert with Omnizone Interface); and St. Cloud (Minn.) Times (replacing controls on an SLS-2000).

Buyers of Miscellaneous equipment included the Plain Dealer, Cleveland (23 Single Sheet Double Detector kits for SLS-1000 inserters); Lakeland (Fla.) Ledger (10 HL2000 mini hopper loaders; and Lansing (Mich.) State Journal (two NP404 online 44-inch web-reduction upgrades).

In all, K&M reports it supplied components and engineering for web reductions on inserters and conveyor systems at 48 print facilities in the past six months.
