North Texas authorities have charged a teenager with capital murder in the death of a newspaper delivery worker during a robbery.
The name of the teen is not being released because he is a juvenile. The now 17-year-old from Mississippi was 16 at the time of the slaying.
He’s accused in the January 21st death of 47-year-old David Wayne May near the University of Texas at Arlington. May had been filling newspaper racks when he was shot in a parking lot near a restaurant.
May delivered newspapers part-time and was not known to carry much cash.
Police say the teenager fled to his native Mississippi after May’s death, apparently to escape continued questioning by investigators.
He was arrested April 26th in Mississippi on unrelated warrants accusing him of robbery in Arlington.
